April Ornament

Well I finally managed to stitch my April ornament among all the other stuff I had to do, gardening, planning a wedding and playing with my new grand-daughter (3 mo. old).
I am sure everyone recognizes this pattern from JCS ornament issue.
My May ornament was already stitched unfortunately I left my stitched piece in Florida before coming back to Canada. So I will post it when I return in the fall. I stitched Quaker Nesting Bird from Aury
Well now I am on a roll, on to June.

April rabbit

I finally finished my April ornament. This is called A Christmas Carrot, from an 1990 issue of Country Stitch magazine. I stitched it with the called-for DMC flosses, on marbled DMC aida. The only small change I made was to stitch the inner border with red, so that it would be a bit cheerier.

April ornament

Here is my April "Rabbit" ornament. The design is from gazette94. I stitched on 16ct Lambswool aida with my chosen DMC threads. The right of this photo is the back of this ornament "Y from Sajou No 324".

I'm a little bit behind I planned..., but I really enjoy stitching for this SAL!
Happy stitching and see you next time...

Caught Up ... For Now.

Here are photos of the front and back of my April Rabbit. The chart is a complimentary design from Aury. It is stitched on the same 28ct Glasgow raw linen as all the others I have stitched for this SAL. I used GAST Cidermill, Maple Syrup and Oatmeal and a Caron Waterlily in a very spring like green. The finish is a fringed pillow with hemp hanger ... again, just like the rest I have stitched.
I will be using another Aury complimentary Quaker chart for May, A Bird in a Nest. But since I don't think I will be able to fit the phrase Confidence in the Shelter on the back with my usual monogram, I'll be substituting the single word Security ... which I think sums up the theme for the ornament just as well, if not better.

My April Rabbit

A marathon stitching session last night and I finished this Rabbit for my April ornament. This is a combination of a couple of pieces of Quaker designs from my collection. I am going to finish all my ornaments together when all 12 are stitched so this is a part-finish mean time.

LEE'S APRIL RABBIT

I have been trying to stitch on each ornament something that is special to me,after much searching through embroidery designs I decide to stitch Benjamin Bunny, one of the Beatrice Potter characters.
Benjamin represents too, the collection I have of these pieces. there are now 43 of them.

I have stitched him on 40 count Permin linen which I have hand dyed using coffee. The thread is DMC and the chart came from the Cross stitch Book" The Tales of Benjamin Bunny" designs by Jeanne Bowers and Janet Powers.

I just pulled a rabbit out of my hat

Or rather, the unfinished ornament pile.

Blue Ribbon Designs - A Christmas Wish of Health and Happiness (2007)
stitched over 2 on 32 ct. evenweave with DMC threads
Freebie Design available here

This is another for the set of Bride's Tree ornaments I'm stitching and finishing for my husband's cousin, who was married in August.

I modified the bottom from "Health and Happiness" to "Hope and Peace" because that's what the rabbit symbolizes for the Bride's Tree Ornaments. And it's a little hard to tell, but it does say 2008 on there as well. It's been stitched up, I just only finished it into an ornament.

April Ornament

While a bit late, here is my April Ornament! The design is called "Snow Bunny" and was purchased from Cross My Heart through Patternsonline.com. It was done on 28 ct. Antique Blue Jobelan. The bunny and the snow were done with 2 strands of floss and 2 strands of Kreinik blending filament. I chose it for my rabbit and the quality of Hope because the bunny looks so hopeful as it gazes up at the moon.
