A big catch up!

I've been very slow in my stitching. I'm so sorry. I am a bookkeeper and needless to say the last few months have been very busy preparing for tax season. While I don't prepare the actual end of year taxes myself, I do a ton of data entry and account verifications for my boss, so no rest for the weary. :-) As soon as tax week was over I had company fly in that weekend. They just left this morning. While she was here I was able to do quite a bit of stitching while watching movies and playing board games. So, I am finally up to date on my SAL!!!

Here are my results:

February

Title: Noel Heart freebie by Passione Ricamo (my take on the pattern)
Stitched on: 28 ct. ivory evenweave
Threads used: DMC & Green Leaves Light by Thread Gatherer Silk 'n Colors
Beads used: Mill Hill Antique Glass Beads Rich Red (03059) and Petite Glass Beads Gold (40557)

March

Title: Poinsettia Basket by Brightneedle (from Small Samplings booklet)
Stitched on: 28 ct. ivory linen
Threads used: DMC, Sable by Caron Collection Wildflowers, and In the Reds by Thread Gatherer Silk 'n Colors
Beads used: Mill Hill Frosted Glass Beads Buttercup (62041)

April

Title: Snow Bunny by Hob Nobb
Stitched on: 16 ct. Stardust Heatherfield
Threads used: DMC & WDW
Please forgive my lack of ironing on my pieces! :-)
I also started a second set for my nephew's wedding for next year. I have January and February finished. I am almost finished with March as well. Will post pictures for that soon.

April ornament

My April ornament is Country Bunny a design by Jean Farish which is a freebie from Country Things. The pattern offered two options a positive and a negative. I chose the negative which is how the pattern is made. The simplicity of the pattern is what drew me to it. I used a fiddler aida cloth and DMC 779 brown. The link to the design is here

June's February Ornament

Okay, things are moving along! Here is my February (True Love) Ornament. I omitted the initials in the lower left/righthand corners and have instead inserted our wedding date. My apologies for the very bad pic!

C's March Flowers

I finally finished this last night. Now I'm caught up again and back in the right order for the rotation.

This was a LNS freebie from Heart in Hand Needleart Designs. I accidently switched the light and medium pinks in my version. If anyone would like the chart and leftover threads (there's enough for everything except the browns), leave me a comment by May 1. I'll choose someone randomly if more than one of you are interested.

Louise's March Ornament

Here is my March ornament! It is called "Flower Basket" and is a free design from www.the-chart-shop.com It was done on Ice Blue 28 ct. Jobelan. I wasn't happy with the way the edges looked, so I made a cord from a varigated pearl cotton I had and glued it around the perimeter. Much better! It's what I call "making lemonade" from a lemon.

Adorable Bunny

This is my April ornament for the Bride's Tree SAL. Isn't it adorable? It's so spring-like.

This is a freebie pattern by Erica Michaels from the Rainbow Gallery. I used the following DMC substitutions. Cocoa - 841. Rose and Pink - 3689. Chocolate - 839. Periwinkle - 341. Green - 966. Whiskers - Wisper ecru. I used the Rainbow Gallery's conversion chart to choose colors. The fabric is a scrap of 18 count cream Aida.

Now I need to go back to my March flowers that I still haven't finished. I'm determined to have an ornamentifying weekend some time in the next month. Stay tuned.

Lee's April ornament

Here's my April ornament! As it happens, "Rabbits" are the theme of my Yahoo group exchange this month, too. So it looks like I'll be stitching this twice. No matter, it was a fun, quick stitch!

February ornament is done!

I did this ornament last night. This is my February ornament. I didn't stitch the little flowers it had on it, just the heart. This is from The Prairie Schooler, Designer Series, done on 18 count Fiddlers. I am now working on the March ornament, trying to catch up before I start the babies Christmas Stockings.

April finish

I finished my Bride's Tree Ornament for April. I added the word HOPE to it. It turned out OK. It is done on 18 count Fiddlers and is 3 inches by 3 inches. The chart was a freebie called Checkerboard Bunny by Waxing Moon Designs. I still have to do Jan, Feb, and March, but I do have October's done! Not sure as to how I will finish them yet. I am think about doing the pillow finish with frayed edges. I kind of want to keep them country looking. huggerz laurel

February Ornament

Here is my February ornament, representing Love. The design is a freebie from Mosey 'n Me called "Stitcher's Heart." It is 3"x5" and done on 22 ct. hardanger fabric. I changed the original design by putting hardanger kloster blocks and eyelets around the edge. I also used silk threads and some metallic thread for the hearts.

April Rabbit

Hi Everyone,
My April ornament is a Prairie Schooler design from the Spring Miniatures leaflet.
Stitched on 27 count Linda evenweave with DMC threads.
When I was doing the backstitching at our stitching group on Monday one of the ladies said he looks like a hare not a rabbit!

February Heart & March Flowers

A little bit late, I've finally finished the February Heart and the March Flowers:

The first one is based on a Ant of Sweden and the second on a Prarie Schooler chart freebies, both with small changes. I've worked with the same colours I've used in January.

First Finish: January House Ornament

Hi, As I just joined this group last month, I'm rather behind! I decided to start with January and try to catch up. Here are the front and back pictures of my first ornament. The design is a freebie from The Prairie Schooler called "Welcome." It is done on 28 ct. antique white Jobelan.

My son, Matt became engaged to Amy on Valentine's Day, with an intended wedding date next Spring, 2009. So I am creating these ornaments for them as a wedding present.

My March Flower

For March I chose just the same pattern as mama joan ( I am sorry mama joan) and I did not want to post my picture straight after her post. Today I see Lee's post with a nice flower basket so I will show my picture.

The pattern is called "Peace" by Nikki Leeman, Country Cottage Needleworks, from Ornament Issue 2007 JCS Magazine. I also modified the design and made it smaller and stitched it one over one on 28 ct. Glass Blue Monaco. I like the boarder so I stitched it on the back as well and made some flower pins to dress up the cushion.

You can see more pictures of it in my blog http://olenkas-stitches.blogspot.com/.
Happy stitching to everybody!

March Ornament - A Little Late!

I'm a little late at posting my March ornament. March was kind of hectic between DS's Spring break from college, the Easter holiday, an extended family visit, and then a trip to Philadelphia to visit a college with my daughter. Oh...and sometime during the month I turned 50! So I'm sure you all understand!
