My January House

Here is my house for January. It is a Hardanger design from "Christmas Trimmings" by Rosalyn Wanemo. It is available from http://www.nordicneedle.com/ I changed some of the stitching on the inside of the house. I do enjoy doing Hardanger.

Hello!

16 ct. aida in Citrus by Sassy's Fabbys

This is my first post, so thanks for letting me participate. Stitching a house was just in time since I had this wonderful little freebie I wanted to do. Look forward to sharing and seeing what other stitchers do for this SAL.

New to This Site

I just came across this site and think it is such a sweet idea.  My granddaughter will be getting married this year, and I will start this project with a February ornament - heart.  Hearts have always been one of my favorites, so I'm sure I will be able to find a design that will fit nicely to this theme.

I will post photos when I get a good start.  I look forward to the sharing of projects on this blog.

Thank you.

My First Post

I am happy to join this particular SAL which first came to my attention when Rachel who blogs under the title of What Seems Like Mad on An Ordinary Day mentioned it on her blog, which I read faithfully.

In any case, here is my first piece: Workbasket's Christmas House from the JCS ornament issue of 2007. I made some changes simplifying some design elements and reducing the number of colors to make it a little less busy. And I used Belle Soie silks instead of the recommended Crescent Color cotton overdyes. I will stitch a back with the word "Protection" and the date and my signature rune and then finish it as a fringed pillow ornament. But I wanted to post a photo in the appropriate month rather than wait till I had done the sewing finish.

My "House" Ornament

Hi everyone!! Finally I have a completion to show. At least the stitching part. I used the complimentary chart released yesterday by Diane Williams of Little House Needleworks to the LHN Yahoo Group. Yes, I took quite a few liberties with her design, which she encourages. I just love her designs & she is such a sweet person.

Request: Please tag your entries

Hello all,

When you post about your ornaments, please add labels or tags to the post. This will help others in the future when they want to search on a certain theme. In the first round, we found the habit of adding "house", "heart", "bird", etc., and the month, "February" for example, is useful. The main labels are already entered, and you can reuse them. We also tried to tag the name of the designer so as to give appropriate credit.

I'd also encourage you to add your moniker as a tag, in case you or someone else wants to see all the posts you made.

Thanks, C

More links

Hi everybody,

Sorry for the delay, last few days have been a little hectic around here.

Diane was so kind to go through the list of links and give us an updated list. I'm literally copying her info here

The Floss Box (Click on “Free cross stitch patterns” below the recent additions. There are 6 pages of free patterns, with at least one house pattern on each page.)

Les Chroniques de Frimousse

Moonlight Inspirations: Our Home

Waterglobe House is not found, and the patterns currently available on Stitch Alley that include houses are too large for ornaments

Ive also found a few House patterns that would make nice ornaments in my travels around Blogdom:

Annie Beez Folk Art: Quaker Hill House

My Nifty Needle: Winter House Ornament

Pam Miller: Spring Sampler House (scroll down for chart on same page as Erica Michaels chart, farther down)

Primitive Bettys: Home is Best

Thanks Diane for all your work!!

January 'Sampler House'

Hi, I'm new, too!

This is my January ornament:

'Sampler House' by Pam Miller. It was a freebie from Rainbow Gallery a couple of years ago. Sorry if the pic is too big!

No finishing yet but will do them all at once.

January House

I have been a member of this SAL for a while, but never posted a photo of this finish. This is a Julia Lucas ornament from a JCS issue. I stitched it two summers ago, finished it in July. It hung on our tree this year for the first time.
