February ornament

Here is my February ornament "a Heart with Quaker Motifs". The design is from Interweave Press. I stitched on 16ct Antique white aida with Marble Thread (cosmo). This thread seems as if violet flowers are blooming. I love this!

Happy stitching and see you next time...

Flower for March

I stitched this La D Da Rose Free-bee for March's flower theme. I've been looking for an excuse to stitch it so it worked out well for me. :-) I've had the free-bee for a while and not sure from where I got it....couldn't find a link to it anywhere online. (Maybe someone else knows where it can be found online.)

It was fun to stitch and I like the size it came out on 32 ct. linen over 2.

A Grandmother Again -- Need Prayers

Sunday evening at 7:37 PM, Little Ella Marie made her way into this world. She is 8 weeks early. She weighs 3 lbs 14 ozs and is 16 1/2 inches long. Right now she is in the NICCU and on CPAP and is holding her own. She was given Surfactin to help mature her lungs, but will be in the hospital for at least another 6-8 weeks baring any complications. DDIL started having problems with pre-eclampsia Thursday. She started having contractions Sunday, late afternoon/early evening, and was taken to the hospital. Her blood pressure was very high and the MD decided to do a C-section to prevent any complications for her or the baby. DDIL is doing better now that the baby has been delivered and is resting well. Her and DS are worried about Little Ella though. All are hoping for daily improvement and no problems. Time will tell. Please keep them both in your prayers for healing and well being. Thanks.

February Heart

Aury, I do hope you consider copying the sincerest form of flattery. I couldn't resist your heart freebie! I did change up the colors to my choice. It is stitched on a remnant of cream 22ct aida. First time I've tried 22ct. I like it!! Will definitely have to find more of that for my stash.

As it stitched up quite small, I was unable to get a decent photo on this gloomy day. This was the best of the lot.

BTW, Aury, can you share your finishing technique? I'm finishing challenged and wouldn't have a clue as to how to finish a heart. Thanks

My March Flower Basket

Hello!
My March flower basket is ready! It is not a simple basket. I made the basket as a felt pincushion. I also designed it with some stitching, sequins and beads. So the result is a very nice and useful thing!
I though, If you make a hand to it, it may be a Christmas Tree decoration, but I think a pincushion is more useful for me, so let it be.
The instructions for pincushion can be found here and here.

My Feb. ornament

I stitched the personalization on my Feb. ornament last night. The design is a freebie that can be found here:

http://stitchingand/ scribbling.blogspot.com/

(if the link doesn't work correctly, it's the blog by the designer of Midsummer Night Designs.)

I thought the verse was especially appropriate for a bride's tree.

My February Heart

Hi all!
This is a February Heart I've stiched. This is a design of Russian company Riolis. I used ribbons and beads to make it look better.
I really like what everyone stich in this project. I'm sorry that I write comments not so often. So I want to say I enjoy everyone's work!

Hello. This is Amy from Houston, TX. Here is my first post. I got this freebie from The Floss Box. I used floss that I had on hand.

I really enjoy looking at everyone's post and getting ideas. This has been fun and it is nice to have a quick finish.

I have started the February post. I am using a freebie from aury. I am using 28 ct Monanco for all my projects. I have picked a varigated DMC for the February project.

See you in February.

First Ornament Finished!!

This is my first post. I'm so glad to join you all. Here is my January Ornie "Noel" from Bent Creek. I know I'm one day late, but better late than never. I have not ironed it yet so there is a crease in the middle. Please excuse my sloppiness.
Thanks for looking,
Can't wait for the next post. I have a few ideas in mind.
Happy Stitching,

My intro and first ornament

Hi! I stumbled onto this blog recently and fell in love with the idea immediately. Thanks for including me in the SAL. I've enjoyed seeing everyone's beautiful ornaments and look forward to seeing many more.

I'm a married mom or 4 kids, 3 of whom have left the nest. I've been stitching for about 30 years with my favorite "genre" being samplers. I'm from Ohio but have lived in SE TX since 2001.

I chose a BBD freebie called Spring's Notcie for my January ornament. It's sitched on 32 ct. over 2 lambswool linen by Wichelt and uses most of the recommended flosses. (I subbed out a different chestnut since I didn't have the right one in my stash.) I also didn't stitch the satin stitches in the border since I like it just fine without.

Now on to February!

My January House is Finished

Howdy everyone!  I'm Vicki in CO and it's great to be a part of this group; great fun to see what others choose for their design.  I love the tradition of the Bride's Tree; particularly because I am of German heritage.

For January, I chose 'Heart & Home Sampler' by Little House Needleworks.  I finished it a few days ago, but finally have a chance to post it.  This one is not finished as an ornament; it is framed in a Mill Hill frame.

Now it's time to decide on a heart for February....hmmmm...decisions, decisions.

Until next time...Happy Stitching!

Vicki in CO

My February Heart - finished
