A lovely tradition from Germany is the Bride's Tree. It is believed that a couple's Christmas tree needs twelve specific ornaments for happiness in their life journey together.
I finished the stitching on my January ornament last night. Here is First Moon Colony, by Bent Creek, stitched in my choices of DMC, 1-over-2 on a 40 ct. Silkweaver solo. As much as I'd like to do one for each of our four kids, I think I'm going to start slow. ;)

Very nice - love the crescent moon. You're on the ball, aren't you?
Cute name and piece, too - I like it - do you sometimes feel like you are on the moon there?
Hugs,
Ginger
